The "Old" Narrative
When we think about justice in the courts, we most likely already have a solid opinion of an outcome. For so long we have been essentially hypnotized with the concept that legally our pets are seen as "personal property." We have been made aware that the courts genuinely only award for your pets' "market value." Right there our encouragement goes down the drain. Most feel "what is the point" to take legal recourse of a bad vet if we will not be awarded anything or only $1,000.
That is the OLD narrative that we have been brainwashed into believing. While all I just stated IS true and a legit valid concern, it is not hopeless. By being a member of Joey's Legacy I have learned first hand that you must give it all you have! Total determination and persistence! More and more we are informed of pet parents victory in the courtrooms. Justice IS being served. I know it is not at a pace or capacity that we all demand for. You have to be persistent and patient. I read about one pet parent couple that was awarded $75,000 in mitigation! That is a HUGE win for us ALL! It shows that justice is not this unknown concept. It shows that it is possible for an outcome in our favor! It gives me hope that there is still hope. Let us try to see past what we thought was always the outcome. Let us see past the brainwashing and hypnotizing. If one family was awarded justice in the courts that means another family can. And who is to say it is not you?
So I encourage you, I know you are tired. I know you are broken. But try to find your inner determination. Give it your best shot. Do not just walk away because you do not think it is possible. Give it a chance! We cannot demand change if we lose our determination as our determination is the needed fuel! Be the change you wish to see!
