Animal/Pet Liberation

“Companion animals are not about oneself. They are not a projection or a realization of intention, nor telos of anything.”

It is said that public opinion cannot be ignored by public officials. Haha, okay! It is “supposed” to go like this… Elected officials who desire reelection must work to satisfy popular beliefs, norms, policy concerns, and demands for policy change. So if public policy contributes to the construction for policy agenda, then why has the pet policy agenda have not been revised or revamped with any true significant substance? Why has the urgent discussion of our pets’ health, life, liberty been downplayed and ignored? Why are more not speaking up? How much more exploitation is going to be allowed? The public needs to reexamine and evaluate the long-standing conflict, moral status, and legal positions of companion animals. There also needs to be new laws to continue to promote their wellbeing and hold individuals who harm their welfare accountable, and yes this goes out to the veterinarians’. Our pets need protection under the law against bad veterinarians’. Truth! No more blind faith everyone. That ship has sailed.

We are living in a new era world! Times have changed. Views, attitudes, choices, opinions of cats, dogs, horses (campion animals) have gone through major changes and evolved. We are mainly a society (at least for pet parents) that see their pet as part of the family and not just as a wild “animal.” Now, more than ever, our fur babies need to be legally protected and given the respect and rights they so well deserve. Our current pet policies are outdated, biased, unethical, and inhumane. Our pet policies are fresh out of 1970. As a society we have evolved and yet the laws governing our pets have not. We need to urge for more pressure on establishing protection for our pets. I do not really see any other area of society where we are operating as if it was still 1970. Why are we doing this when it comes to our pets? We have individuals who speak up for anything and everything… yet when our pets come up there is mere silence. What gives humans the audacity to judge what life force is superior and worth fighting for? Frankly, I am ashamed of the human race. The greatest evil is man/woman. Not a pet/animal.
